Fellowship Course on Transparency, Accountability and the Fight Against Corruption

The Fellowship Course on Transparency, Accountability and the Fight Against Corruption was organized for the first time by the Centro de Derechos Humanos of the Facultad de Derecho, Universidad de Chile, with the support of the Foundation Open Society Institute. The regional program provides participants with a significant theoretical basis on the fundamental concepts involved in this field, the study of the main areas in which corruption occurs and the problems involved, and a review of the different strategies used in efforts to build democratic societies that are more transparent, that encourage participation and that are respectful of human rights.
The goal of this Fellowship Course is for each course to provide training to up to 25 professionals from different disciplines, specifically to those who are in a position to help strengthen democracy and public integrity in their respective countries, either through their work in the public or private sector, or in non-governmental institutions. The program offers full and partial scholarships to professionals from different disciplines (such as law, journalism, education, economics, etc.) who have proven their ability to promote initiatives involving transparency, accountability and the fight against corruption, from their positions in the public sector, civil society, the private sector or international spheres. Priority is given to applicants linked to groups and organizations working in this field.
The course involves classroom-based academic activities, held in Santiago, Chile (two weeks at the beginning of the course and one week at the end) and online classes (17 weeks). A Diploma in "Transparency, Accountability and the Fight against Corruption" is issued by the School of Law, University of Chile, to participants who successfully complete the study program.
