Fellowship Course on Human Rights and Women: Theory and Practice

This Fellowship Course provides training to Latin American lawyers both in the application of international human rights law related to the human rights of women, and also in the use of international human rights protection mechanisms. The course also teaches students the basic principles of feminist theories and provides tools for applying a gender perspective to legal analyses.

The program is based on classroom sessions held in Santiago, Chile (3 weeks in total) and online classes (17 weeks). There are scholarships available for lawyers whose current work or activities demonstrate their ability to defend and promote the human rights of women. Students include individuals working for non-governmental organizations dedicated to women´s issues and human rights, working in government offices and ministries dedicated to women´s affairs, teaching and researching in law-related fields, and to public officials linked to the Judiciary or the Office of the Ombudsperson or its national equivalent.

The School of Law of the University of Chile awards a Graduate Diploma in "Human Rights and Women: Theory and Practice" to students who successfully complete the study program.
